An English Garden Marquee Wedding

Charis and Luke had the most dreamy marquee wedding at Charis’s beautiful family home in West Sussex. Charis and her bridesmaids were dressed to perfection by the amazing make up artist Lucy Baker and hairdresser Cassandra Rizzuto . The bridesmaids all wore Jim Hjelm and Charis was a vision of beauty in Stephanie Allin’s Kelly dress.

Charis has such a wonderful loving family and I love this picture of Charis and her mum who also looked simply fabulous on the big day.

And here with Charis’s dad who was a larger than life character and certainly knew how to throw a party.

When it came to the ceremony and wedding breakfast Inside Outside Marquees provided a beautifully crafted marquee to suit the occasion. It was also important that the flowers looked perfect and fitted in with the theme. There is no finer florist who could transform both the garden and marquee into a quintessential masterpiece than Lily’s Flowers

All of the photographs were captured by the talented Roger Brown and here is one of my favourites with all the boys arriving for the ceremony.

The ceremony itself was under stunning Chinese Hat Pagoda’s all provided by Inside Outside Marquees

The inspiration for the interior of the marquee was the beautiful setting of the garden itself and with the use of trees and apples as name cards for the guests the design was created. The main marquee look absolutely amazing with the height of the trees and the beautiful floral displays. This was all pulled together with Charis’s choice of colour for her wedding which was blue.

The guests were all entertained by a fabulous Gypsy Swing band during the service and before dinner

Charis and Luke were treated to a very tasty dinner from Kalm Kitchen and they also created this wonderful Cheese Cake for the couple.

The cake and cupcakes were made by Zoe Clark Cakes

The night all ended fabulously when the reveal curtain was pulled back at the end of the marquee and much to the surprise of the guests Charis and Luke began their first dance with their amazing band who rocked the night away.

A Ravishing Retro wedding

Mike and Kate are the most gorgeous couple a planner could ask for. They are completely head over heals in love and they make everyone swoon with their passion and kindness towards each other. Mike and Kate have a wonderful home which is full of love for their children, their friends and their family. It was important to them that they created a weekend which not only celebrated their love for each other but where others could share in their special day at their home. The celebrations began on Saturday with a double decker bus which picked the happy party up from their home and took them to the registry office in Guildford. We sent kate to visit Vivien of Holloway as we knew that their dresses would be perfect for her weekend of celebrations and would match the event perfectly. All the photographs both on the Saturday and Sunday were captured by the lovely David Long Photography

Then Sunday was the day where our gorgeous couple really got their wish to be married at their stunning home. The morning began when Lucy Baker arrived with her team of wonderful make up artists and gave the bride and her party a beautiful vintage looking make over to match Kate’s wonderfully 50s styled dress again from Vivien of Holloway. Mike and Kate wanted to separate the wedding into 3 areas. An area for the children to have a circus themed party where they could dress up, play games, eat some scrummy food and to be entertained by the finest circus performers. They also wanted a place inside the house for the adults to enjoy a vintage tea, cake, cheese and strawberries and then the main ceremony and party to take place in the garden under The Stunning Tents . Their wish became a reality when Purely Events added their special magical wedding sparkle and created a visually gorgeous setting in all three areas. Purely Events knew that Lilys Flowers were the perfect florist for this wedding. We all worked together to decide how the flowers should look and as can be seen in the photos the girls at Lily’s surpassed themselves with their wonderful delicate displays mixing lights, pom poms and very bright vintaged styled flowers. It completely brightened up the house and gardens making it all look simply stunning. The glass bottles the flowers sat in were sourced by Purely Events, as well as the vintage crockery and props. We will happily loan them to any bride and groom thinking they would like to hire them for their own wedding. The food and drinks service was all provided by Kalm Kitchen one of Surrey’s most equisite catering companies run by the most delicious people James and Jen.

The cake table was styled by Purely Events and the cakes were made by the very talented Jo Burton of Jo Burton Bakes.

The children were so excited when they entered the circus area and found that they could play games such as Hoopla, Tin Can Alley and dress up in circus themed fancy dress. They really loved having their photo taken peeping through our specially created circus themed photo board. The children were also treated to their own food table complete with chocolate moustaches, popcorn freshly made from the popcorn cart, lollies, toffee apples and circus themed cake pops from the amazing The Cake Pop Company . The whole area was designed by Purely Events we finished off the look with hay bales and 36’balloons which were inflated by Inge from the party shop in Godalming. All of the wonderful signage was created by Michelle Fiedler . She did an amazing job and we really couldn’t have completed the look without her. Deborah Mitchell printed all the signs and again is a huge support to Purely Events. I can’t recommend these ladies enough.

As well as the yummy sweets and treats table we also provided the little guests with a styled ice cream parlour table. After all that playing and eating the children were entertained with a circus workshop run by the extremely talented juggler and circus performer Sam. A short time later the adults and children were also entertained by the awe inspiring Big Grey who tantalised everyone with his fire eating and juggling act.

After all the fun and food the evening ended with one of the UK’s best cover bands taking the party right back to the 80s up to the current day with songs from Duran Duran, Wham, Queen and LMFAO. Their energy was unreal and they describe themselves as a guilty pleasure which they certainly are. Cool funky they completely rocked the wedding.

Congratulations Mike and Kate you were a pleasure to work with and we couldn’t ask for a more fabulous couple. We wish you all the love in the world.

Under the Vintage Veil – Birthday Party

We were so excited to get a call to invite us to showcase our sweetie table at one of the coolest parties in Brighton suitably named ‘Veilbash’. Sara Doron is beautiful, stylish and a damm good blogger. She has an eye for all things vintage and as part of documenting her own wedding she created one of the most inspirational blogs in the wedding industry Under The Vintage Veil. Her blog is a brides dream when looking for vintage-style, rustic chic suppliers, services and real weddings, it’s also a safe place to discuss the emotional aspect of getting married and to ask any wedding-related questions.

Sara wanted to throw a party to celebrate the blogs first birthday and wow what a venue…The Proud Ballrooms in Brighton. The Ballrooms had glamorous decor, a decadent bar, boothed seating and dancefloor to dance the night away. It really was a step back in time and offered a fabulous backdrop for the party. The party began with a fashion show from Charlotte Bridal where Charlotte exhibited some of her original designs. Frou Frou Bride a wonderful boutique based in Tunbridge Wells also provided the models and gowns from their amazing shop. Some of the dresses included designs by David Fielden, Ivy & Aster, Sarah Seven, Lyn Ashworth and Belle and Bunty. We also had the absolute pleasure to get to know Jinder from The Finer Details. She designs some of the most fabulous, sparkly brooch bouquets as well as beautiful signs, mirrors with calligraphy writing on, stationary design and many other wonderful wedding must haves. She was even kind enough to make us our own Purely Events sign for the evening.

All the guests enjoyed Purely Events Sweetie table a special thank you to Michelle Fiedler for designing all the sweetie signs. The wonderful cake was created by Emma from Cake Maison. Emma combined the burlesque theme with vintage chic which complimented our sweetie jars and props perfectly.

Sara arranged for Hairport UK to add even more glamour to the party allowing her guests to have their hair coiffured or blow dried. Sara’s Mum was on hand to offer the guests a total pampering experience she runs a company called Pure Pampering Parties where guests can get a whole range of holistic treatments anything from Reiki to foot massage. What a great idea when your guests have danced the night away and need nothing better than a foot rub to relieve those sore feet.

The guests were also able to enjoy their time in the photobooth which was provided by Retro Me boy could those guys boogie on down and all of the stunning images from the party were captured by Jayne from Sacco Photography what an amazing photographer she really captured the essence of the party and I would recommend her to photograph any wedding.

Superheroes Party

Superman, Spiderman, Wonderwoman were just some of the little Superheroes that attended this exciting party. Claire Long the Creative Director of Purely Events worked her magic producing an amazing themed food table with little decoupaged cones filled with salt and vinegar chips, Lolly’s with their own superhero coats and masks as well as a superhero signage to make the table look absolutely fabulous. The backdrop for the table was a cleverly designed MDF board with blue textured wallpaper and the name ‘Superheroes’ written on the back each letter was decoupaged with old superhero comics.

We also created a telephone box as a prop for the photo booth area for the kids to change from being Clarke Kent to Superman. Then a New York skyline was created for the photos with superhero props and signs for the kids to hold.

There was even a Superhero Sweetie table which matched the food table. All the children got to help themselves to the sweets and take home a bag for themselves.

All the children got to choose their own sweets and take them home in a sweetie bag.

For the kids entertainment they got to shoot their ray guns at the ‘baddies’ and each little superhero won a packet of sweeties from the beautifully designed prize board.

The Superheroes had a fabulous decorated table to eat their food from and each child got their own superhero hat.

What 4 year old wouldn’t be crazy about a real life Superhero photo booth area complete with signs and props. A visually delicious party and fun had by all.

It’s a London thing – Mr and Mrs D

Michelle Fiedler worked very closely with Purely Events from the start of our business, designing our wonderful website and also many of our clients invitations to their amazing parties and weddings. I was so delighted when Michelle asked me to organise her wedding to Stew who is an absolutely gorgeous groom. Michelle and Stew’s dream was to have all their friends and family together in a stunning venue where they could dance the night away. Both Michelle and Stew had a great love of London as they both travelled from their home in Hertford to the ‘Big Smoke’ for many years. When I took the lovely couple to Home House in Portland Square they were simply in awe of its stunning ambiance and elegant yet funky design. The date was set and so ensued months of fantastic planning including some of the best invitations and stationary I have ever seen…

For more of Michelle’s amazing wedding designs click through to www.michellefiedler.com/home2.html
The day began with a glass of champagne and a visit from the wonderful Lucy from www.lucybakermakeup.com who created not only a stunning look for Michelle’s wedding day but also for all her hens on her ‘TOWIE’ themed hen party in Essex.

For all those that know Michelle she has a love for the colour green and this was incorporated into the styling and colours of the wedding check out her amazing shoes the sparkly ones are from Dune and the greens ones are from Monsoon.

Choosing the dress was such fun we went to visit www.temperleylondon.com in London but it was our visit to www.jennypackham.com that really made her decide on the style she wanted and she fell in love with the ‘Lisette’ a Grecian style wedding dress with stunning diamonte detail.

The florist was the creative www.scarletandviolet.com. Michelle had a love of wild flowers and she wanted to have a vintage feel to match the eclectic style of Home House. Vic Brotherson and her team from Scarlet and Violet created the most stunning array of table displays and decoration to the Eating Room at Home House.

Purely Events dressed the tables with pretty silver birds provided by Michelle and also the beautifully designed table cards that she designed herself. The stunning silver candelabras and vintage style flowers with the vintage glass and cracked tea lights were visually wonderful for the wedding party to enjoy.

Purely Events loves tea lights so we placed hundreds of cracked glass tea light holders around the front parlour room to give a warm, twinkly feel to the room.

Michelle was introduced to Jo from Burton Bakes who created a stunning wedding cake incorporating Michelle’s love of the colour green and vintage jewellery.

And so the evening events began with the foot tapping, hip shaking, floor filling band that is www.flatpackpanda.com. They really got the crowd going playing their full array of cover songs from the 60s right up to the noughties.

There was just enough time to take a breather and get these amazing shots which were taken by the extremely talented www.davidlongphotography.com.

Photography was such important aspect to Michelle and Stew’s wedding and they were delighted with how David captured all the emotion and unfolded their own personal story with his beautiful photography. The team at Purely Events felt honoured to be part of such and amazing day and to have the opportunity to create beautiful memories that will stay with Michelle and Stew forever.
Congratulations Mr and Mrs D
